Greenfield Library

This 7,500 SF community library, funded by State Library Grant Funds to meet the needs of the City of Greenfield, was completed in 1994. The library was designed to blend with Salinas Valley rural Spanish influence. Openings to the outside for natural light and passive solar considerations were part of the program. The concept is a central loggia or cathedral structure where the lounging and reading areas are located. The design has become successful due to the ability to staff the building with one person at a time, if required.
